%X The current study aimed to propose a grouping method by archipelagos to define the domain andjurisdiction of sedimentary islands located in the Estuarine-Lagoon Complex of Iguape and Cananéia,Southeastern Brazil, in order to minimize the impacts resulting from human action and obtain futureenvironmental funds. For this purpose, the Voronoi Diagram was used, with the help of the geographicinformation system gvSIG, a free open source software. The studied section is about 65 km long, between theRibeira de Iguape River mouth and the Cananéia mouth, located to the north and south of the study area, respectively. A total of 51 islands was found in the Mar Pequeno, comprising an area of 5.040.175,00 m2. TheVoronoi was useful for the delimitation of the alveo, where three municipalities have jurisprudence: Cananéia,Iguape and Ilha Comprida. This fact was particularly important, once from the delimitation of the alveo it waspossible to group the islands into archipelagos and thus define the area belonging to each of the municipalities. The results obtained may be useful for the territorial planning of the study area, especially in an estuarinecomplex where human action and environmental dynamics exert a strong influence on the landscape. The usedmethodology can be applied in other estuarine regions along the Brazilian coast, in order to help to define thedomains of islands and archipelagos.
